The Guanacaste International Airport is located just 20 minutes from the Papagayo region. There are more than 60 flights daily, with almost all major airlines arriving from most major cities. Tourists and investors can arrive in only a few hours to our area and be on the beach within minutes. There are currently plans for extensive development around the airport, from the Airport Hilton to a Hampton Inn and numerous malls and shopping centers.

Two hospitals are located just 30 minutes away in Liberia. There are also well-established private clinics that offer a variety of personalized services with highly professional doctors.

Weather and Beaches

The Papagayo and the Northwest coast of Costa Rica boast arguably the best weather in the country, with over 320 days of sunshine. The beaches of the Papagayo are considered by many to be the finest in the country, ideal for resort and residential tourism since they are not surfing beaches. Snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, and many other water activities are very popular in this area.

Large Expat Community

The Papagayo area is known as a community of Americans and Canadians, and many people choose this as their home or retirement destination due to the number of foreigners living here.

Private Schools

With many North Americans relocating with children to the Papagayo area, we have seen several excellent private bilingual schools open in recent years.

Infrastructure

The Papagayo region, due to growth and development, features some of the best roads in the country. There is a wide variety of restaurants and shopping options in the area. The Four Seasons, which opened in January 2004, has been operating at nearly 100% capacity daily and has often been booked months in advance. Properties in the area range in price. You can find a great studio apartment a few hundred meters from the beach for as low as $50,000, and ocean view condos start at about $250,000. Two and three-bedroom single-family homes just a short walk to the beach start at $300,000. Playa Hermosa and surrounding beaches are most famous for their spectacular ocean view properties.

While many envision living on the beach, you may soon discover that living on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean offers unmatched views. There are new communities with ocean view lots currently for sale. These are all gated communities with paved roads, electricity, municipal water, cable TV, telephone, and internet access. Lots in these developments range from $150,000 to $400,000, depending on size and view.

Costa Rica's government is in a better financial position compared to other Central American countries. However, their funds are not limitless. When they choose to focus on a region, such as Guanacaste, they are committed to ensuring its success. They cannot afford to waste money on mistakes. The government has designated Guanacaste as the primary recipient of its investment dollars for the next decade. They have invested millions in enhancing infrastructure, including roads, municipal water, telephone services, fiber optic internet, and cable and satellite TV. Additionally, they have supported numerous projects, ranging from golf courses and resort hotels to marinas, and have even expanded the airport to accommodate increased traffic. Investing in the Papagayo area is considered a secure option. Significant growth is anticipated over the next 5 to 10 years, with continued investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in the region. Guanacaste will always be a favorite destination in Costa Rica, known for its excellent weather, beautiful beaches, calm bays, and convenient airport access. This is why 95% of all major resorts and developments are being established here.
